A 1935 bank robbery re-enactment, a car show and crazy bargains at participating businesses throughout town… Those are just a few of the special events planned to take place in Freeman on Wednesday, July 12. Some local businesses will also observe extended hours.
Freeman’s “Market in the Park, Main Street, & More” Crazy Days celebration will feature a wide assortment of Freeman Farmers Market vendors set up at the Swimming Pool Park from 5 to 7 PM on July 12. Bring a lawn chair to enjoy live music by Ted and Alice Miller at the park and then head to Main Street for more special events.
The corner of Third & Main will be decked out with home-based business vendors from 5 to 8 PM, as well as the Freeman Regional Health Services booth providing the opportunity to sign up for the July 29 Mutton Run and the August 12 Water Festival.
From 6 to 9 PM, a car show will be in place between Fourth and Fifth Streets on Main. Mr. G’s tires will be serving up free root beer floats along Main Street and our Bike Doctor (also known as Dr. Dennis Ries) will be stationed in the Mr. G’s lot along Fifth Street with an assortment of high-quality, refurbished bikes. The bikes were donated last month and restored to our local Bike Doctor. Kids and adults in need of a bike are encouraged to stop by to check for an appropriate fit.
Free hot dogs, chips and bottled water, courtesy of the Freeman Community Development Corporation, will be made available at 6:30. Grilling the hot dogs and serving up the meal will be members of the Freeman Lions Club. You’ll find the food alongside the other vendors at Third and Main and they’ll gladly accept your tips to help fund their upcoming projects.
Kids should plan to stick around after the re-enactment so they can dig for treasures, with coins buried in the money pit near the Vintage Vault.
The special events are sponsored by the Freeman Community Development Corporation and Freeman’s local Rural Revival organization, with special thanks to participating businesses.
