Dakota Resources hosted their annual Year-End Celebration on December 21 via Zoom, with Freeman’s Courtney Unruh recognized for the impactful influence she’s exhibited through her various leadership roles in the Freeman community.
A “Rural Thriverr” is how the organization describes someone like Unruh. And, yes – Thriverr is spelled with a double consonant at the end, indicating, in part, an extra degree of commitment to helping a rural community thrive.
Carol Eisenbeis, development & marketing coordinator for the City of Freeman, provided the following as part of Unruhs’s nomination:
“From no to go! That’s the inspiration that Courtney Unruh is spreading in her servant leadership roles as CEO & administrator of Freeman Regional Health Services, through the Freeman Missionary Church’s outreach to the Freeman community and as vice president of the Freeman Community Development Corporation. In true rural Thriverr fashion, Courtney and her husband and young sons relocated back to their home community of Freeman after living in the Minneapolis metro area and the fact that they are all in for our rural community is, without a doubt, evident! Thank you, Courtney!”
Dakota Resources is a non-profit organization that seeks to empower rural leaders and help rural leaders thrive. The Freeman Community Development Corporation partners with Dakota Resources as a member of the Dakota Resources Learning Network.
